Adopt-A-Leader

pray4govt.org
March 30, 2010

Intercessors for Louisiana is encouraging everyone to get involved in their "Adopt–A–Leader" project. You can get involved by choosing a leader or leaders to uplift in prayer and then by sending letters of notification to those God tells you to lift up this session. All information can be found by clicking here.

Todd Trahan, the Director for the group, urges us to pray for organizations like Louisiana Family Forum that defend the unborn and other traditional family issues. For many of these organizations these times are different than other times. We have been encouraged by the Holy Spirit to understand that the army God has assembled in these organizations is sufficient, in God, for the battle at hand.

Kathleen Benfield, Legislative Director for LFF Action, gives us these words: “Here is a scripture verse which I think expresses what we seek to accomplish as pro-life, pro-family citizen lobbyists: “May I learn to do good, Seek justice, Remove the oppressor, Defend the orphan, And plead for the widow.” (Isaiah 1:17)."

Let’s all agree that all who fight for family values will fulfill this scripture during this session.

March 26, 2010

The New Orleans Times Picayune reports today:

"On Sunday night [Melancon] did not cast his ‘no’ vote until the Democrats had 216 votes, the number necessary to ensure passage. As Democrats erupted in cheers and applause, the red light for ‘no’ lit up next to Melancon’s name on the big tally board above the press gallery in the House chamber."

Tax Freedom Day!

Tax Foundation
March 30, 2010

Tax Freedom Day – the date on which Americans will have worked long enough to have earned enough money to pay this year’s tax obligations at the federal, state and local levels – will be Friday, April 9, 2010.

Tax Freedom Day answers the basic question, “What price is the nation paying for government?” An official government figure for total tax collections is divided by the nation’s total income. The answer this year is that taxes will amount to 26.89 percent of our income, and the stretch of 99 days from January 1 to April 9 is 26.89 percent of the year. Overall, Americans will pay more taxes in 2010 than they will spend on food, clothing and shelter combined.

Vaccine Cover up?

Huffington Post
March 11, 2010

Dr. Poul Thorsen, a central figure behind the Center for Disease Control's (CDC) claims disputing the link between vaccines and autism and other neurological disorders has disappeared after officials discovered massive fraud involving the theft of millions in taxpayer dollars.

Thorsen was a leading member of a Danish research group that wrote several key studies supporting the CDC's claims that the MMR vaccine and mercury-laden vaccines were safe for children.

One of his studies has long been criticized as fraudulent, since it failed to disclose that the increase was an artifact of new mandates requiring, for the first time, that autism cases be reported on the national registry.

Despite this obvious chicanery, the CDC has long touted the study as the principal proof that mercury-laced vaccines are safe for infants and young children. The mainstream media has relied on this study as the basis for its public assurances that it is safe to inject young children with mercury -- a potent neurotoxin -- at concentrations hundreds of times over the U.S. safety limits.
